Info

We were appointed by the client to refurbish and renovate a prominent corner building on the main axis route of the walled city street pattern on Castle Street, Derry-Londonderry.  The building, which sits within the conservation area, was to be stripped back to its brick facade, before restoration could be started on the project.

The aim was to promote a sustainable and viable use for the building whilst retaining its architectural character with the historic, urban area.  The building seeks to strengthen the formal grid layout at the Derry’s walled city streets which derives from Roman military planning.  Its location adjacent to the walls highlights its significance to funding bodies who partnered with us to see the project come to fruition.
